ROUTES OF MEXICO
The Magic of Traditions and Nature
WHY MEXICO ?

As a holiday destination, Mexico would be hard to surpass.

It offers a variety of choices from big-city sophistication to small-town intimacy, from sun-drenched virgin beaches to snow capped volcanoes. México is much more than the well known international jet-set favored sea side resorts of both Caribbean and Pacific coasts. It’s a nation of thirty one states, with the richest archaeological heritage in all America and an envious Spanish colonial past which you will miss mostly unless you allow yourself to appreciate a little more of it.

Within the limitations of a planned package offer, we are introducing alternatives and combinations that might be of interest for those who seek more than a nice suntan.

Our full program starts with a 3 night stay in Mexico City with visits, followed by 4 nights in Morelia for the Michoacan visits and ends at the sea-side resort of Ixtapa (2 nights). Find herebelow options of shorter programs visiting Michoacan only or Michoacan and Ixtapa,

When the Aztecs came upon the vast ruined city, it has been abandoned for centuries, they could not believe that it had been built by mere mortals – the name in nauhatl means “City of the Gods”. The original name of the city it is not known, but it´s believed it was built between the 2nd and the 7thC AD, only to abandon for mysterious reasons. The evidence of the buildings tells us they were highly advanced in the fields of astronomy, geometry, architecture and arts. MICHOACAN. It is a region in New Spain where culture and art prospered thanks to its surrounding wealth. This is where one of the first colleges of higher education was built in addition to churches and monasteries where fine arts and sciences were cultivated. Its heritage lasts to this day.
Located between the center of the Republic and the Pacific Coasts, Michoacán lies in one of the most fertile valleys in Mexico. The climate is mild providing ideal conditions to exotic flora and fauna.
Morelia is the capital city with its seventeenth century Cathedral, its palaces and convents. Pátzcuaro is a beautiful town on the shores of a lake by the same name, where the well known Day of the Dead celebration takes place; Uruápan and its National Park; Zirahuén with a magnificent lagoon which attracts visitors all year round; the Sanctuaries of the Monarch Butterfly; the Paricutin Volcano; Tzintzuntzan, once the capital of the Purépecha empire; Santa Clara del Cobre; springs of thermal waters and spas; just to name a few, are attractions worth visiting!

MORELIA was known in colonial times as Nueva Valladolid, because it reminded the “Conquistadores” of that Spanish town. Nowadays it is considered to be the most noble of all Mexican colonial cities. The architecture has been kept in the tradition of old Spain. Apart from the above mentioned Cathedral built of pinkish stone dominated by two 200 feet towers which took about 200 years to finish, the most significant landmark is the massive and yet elegant aqueduct built in 1790 with more than 250 arches.
